WorldShare connects individuals and churches in the UK with locally led churches and Christian ministries, working with some of least-resourced people of the world, to support their God-given vision to see lives transformed through the hope of the Gospel.

WorldShare only holds data which, as far as we can ascertain, is accurate and up-to-date and which is required of us by law or necessary to process your donation or contact you in the manner that you have requested.
We only collect data that is given to us directly and will not share any of your data with any third parties for marketing purposes. We will not sell your details to anybody else, nor do we buy data from third parties or obtain personal data from the public domain.
We only collect data from you for specific purposes. Once that purpose has finished, we won’t hold on to the data for longer than necessary.
Personal information
Data protection law requires us to identify the lawful basis under which we collect and use your personal information. Depending on why we process your data one, or sometimes more than one of the following bases may be relevant.

Where you provide us with sensitive personal data, such as where you worship, we will process this using one of the following permitted criteria:

Religious beliefs
As a Christian charity, we may process personal data relating to where you worship, or what role you play in a church. We will only do this where you tell us you are happy for us to use this information, or where you choose to make this public (eg. on your church website). We will never disclose this information about you outside WorldShare without your consent.
Using your information for marketing
Marketing information may include information about different projects and appeals that we are running, information about our ministry partners and other work that we do.
We may send you communications about our news, activities and appeals by post or phone unless you have previously told us that you do not want to be contacted in this way. We rely on legitimate interest for this processing as we believe WorldShare has a legitimate interest in promoting the charity.

We take the principles of data minimisation and removal seriously and have internal policies in place to ensure that we only ever ask for the minimum amount of data for the associated purpose and delete that data promptly once it is no longer required.

WorldShare is committed to keeping your personal data safe by only using secure, protected and encrypted solutions.
All staff and, where applicable, volunteers are fully briefed on WorldShare’s data protection policies and procedures relevant to their role. Staff will only have access to data that they need to be able to carry out their duties. Any data that is no longer required, will be destroyed.
We may modify this Privacy Policy from time to time and will publish the most current version on our website.
This policy was revised and approved in January 2024, following a full review of our data protection policies, in line with UK-GDPR. The policies will be reviewed by the Trustees a minimum of once every three years.
